ECHOx

ECHOx is the artistic identity of a Scandinavian artist based in Berlin, working across fiction, poetry, theater, photography, music, and development. Most books carry the name Eko Svenningsson; The Dark Hierarchy is written as Echo Kronborg, a literary construct: a fictional author given a name, a city, and a god, so that the material can exist in the world at the right distance from the person who wrote it. The gap is deliberate, in the tradition of Samuel R. Delany’s fictional frame, where the invented author creates the space in which the truth of the text can be spoken.

At the artistic core is world- and system-building. Every work is an inhabitable world with its own laws: a ship adrift between Earth and Mars in ANIARA: The Doors to the Stars, an order of desire in The Dark Hierarchy, a museum that keeps hours no one supervises in The Corridors of Hadrian, a buried cave in The Ones Who Left, and the passage by which another person can enter. Rigorous theory is the line through all of it: every work is held to artistic and academic standards at once.

The practice centers on a single question: what survives disappearance? Writing names people into permanence. Photography captures what cannot be retaken. Theater enacts what cannot be said.

Analog processes, irreversible techniques. Berlin as both ground and metaphysical space. Language as architecture — syntax and rhythm as structural elements, not ornament.
